A significant increase is expected in the afternoon thunderstorm forecast for today, the Department of Meteorology warned.
The department said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most parts of the island after 2.00 pm.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern provinces.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
