A Police Constable has been interdicted for having danced on stage during a musical show held during a New Year festival function in Peliyagoda recently.
The Constable attached to the Peliyagoda Police Station has been interdicted by the Kelaniya Assistant Superintendent of Police for having behaved so while on duty.
According to Daily News, a Sergeant and four Police Constables, including the officer in question, had been deployed on security duties at the venue of the musical show.
Despite the organizers of the musical show having been instructed to end the show by midnight, special permission had been given by the Police officers to perform for an extra half hour.
Close to the end of the extended time, the Police Constable in question was seen talking with the musical band on the stage after which he started dancing on the stage.
Investigations found that the Constable had requested the band to perform his favourite song and had continued dancing preventing the musical band from ending the show, resulting in the organizers removing the Police Constable from the stage.
The Sergeant in charge of security had taken steps to inform the Officer-In-Charge of this incident after which an investigation had been held and the Assistant Superintendent of Police had interdicted the Police Constable involved. (NewsWire)
