A special Vesak Festivities programme will be conducted in Colombo this year, Chief Medical Officer of Health of Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni stated that the special programme is being conducted after a lapse of nearly three years.
He further stated that six Vesak Zones will be established within Colombo, adding that any person willing to host a Vesak Dansal must register with the Colombo Public Health Department.
“Many people have already registered to host dansals in Colombo in view of the Vesak festival. Nearly 125 Dansals have been registered as of now. There are 49 dansals serving rice, yellow rice and fried rice. 23 serving ice cream. 10 serving cassava. And other dansals serving biscuit, sow, bread, kadala, among other items,” he revealed.
Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni stated that a special dansal will also be conducted in the area near the Presidential Secretariat and Shangri-la Hotel in Colombo.
Six teams have been appointed to inspect all registered and non-registered dansals, he further stated. (NewsWire)
