The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) will ensure the stability of the banking system and the protection of public deposits during any kind of domestic debt optimisation, CBSL Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said.
Dr. Weerasinghe made the remarks while addressing a public forum on the CBSL’s 2022 annual report which was held yesterday (May 10).
He further stated that there are various opinions being circulated on the stability of the banking system and the protection of public deposits at present.
It is the responsibility of the Central Bank to first stabilize the financial sector of the country, the CBSL Governor pointed out.
Dr. Weerasinghe assured that the CBSL will take the necessary measures to ensure the stability of the banking system and the protection of public deposits during any form of debt restructuring. (NewsWire)
