A probe has been launched to find the body of a 22-year- old woman who was reported missing in Elpitiya, Gampola.
The Police stated the probe was launched following the confession of a suspect who was arrested in connection to the disappearance.
The woman was reported missing since May 07 after last seen on her way to work.
The victim who is an employee of a pharmacy in Gelioya is reported to have gone missing after leaving for work
The suspect has been identified as a youth who had rared goats in the area.
According to Lankadeepa, investigations have revealed that the suspect had spotted the woman while picking up grass for his goats and had attempted to sexually molest her.
Another suspect had confessed to the Police that as the woman had objected and threatened to inform her father, teh person who was looking after Goats had dragged her into the forest and strangled her to death.
He further revealed that following her death the victim had been buried in a nearby forest area.
The Police have found a few belongings of the woman in the said area, while further investigations are underway. (NewsWire)
