Showers are expected in several parts of Sri Lanka today, the Department of Meteorology stated.
Showers or thundershowers will sometimes occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, NorthWestern and Southern provinces.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern and North-Central provinces and in the Trincomalee district.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces, particularly during the afternoon or night.
Strong winds of about 40-45 kmph can be expected at times over western and southern coastal areas and along the western slopes of the central hills.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
