Virat Kohli was in awe of Shubman Gill, who scored his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) hundred on Monday, May 15. Playing for the Gujarat Titans, Gill was at his very best against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls with 13 fours and one six, helping the Titans put up a massive score of 188 for nine. After Wriddhiman Saha departed for a duck, Gill and Sai Sudharsan put on 147 runs for the second wicket off 13.4 overs to bring GT right back into the game.
Gill played well to such an extent that a player of Kohli’s stature lauded him. Kohli said that Shubman can set a roadmap for the young generation with his brand of cricket.
Kohli took to his Instagram story and wrote, “There’s potential and then there’s Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you.
