Sri Lanka Customs has seized over 8000 kilos of Hookah Tobacco, used in a smoking device commonly known as “Shisha”.
The Customs stated that the stock of Hookah Tobacco is estimated to be Rs.164 million and had been illegally imported from Dubai.
The Hookah Tobacco weighing 8,010 kilos had been found packed in 160,200 packets consisting of 50g a packet.
The container is reported to have been imported using fake documents of a Sri Lankan firm which is not among the list of registered companies permitted to import goods.
The Sri Lanka Customs is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
