The Ministry of Education expects to hold the 2024 GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level Examinations within the same year, Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha stated.
Minister Premajayantha stated that steps will be taken to shorten the school holidays in order to enable the completion of the necessary syllabuses.
The GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations since 2020 have been held delayed in the following years due to the coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis.
The Minister further stated that paper marking for the concluded state examinations has commenced with university lecturers returning to paper marking activities.
A delay in paper marking was caused after university lecturers refused to participate in the activity by engaging in a strike against the government’s latest tax policies.
Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha made the remarks while addressing the media yesterday (May 18). (NewsWire)
