A V8 SUV that was reported missing from Colombo has been found in Sella Kataragama.
According to the Police, the missing vehicle belongs to a software engineer, who is reported to have offered it to a vehicle rental service in Colpetty for a monthly payment of Rs. 280,000.
However, the owner had filed a complaint with the Police claiming that the vehicle had gone missing a few days after having offered it on rental service.
Investigations found that the individual from Colpetty who had obtained the vehicle to provide it on rental service had fled the area.
Using the vehicle’s GPS tracker, the Police were able to track the vehicle to Sella Kataragama and seize it.
At the time of finding the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle had revealed that the vehicle had been mortgaged at his office in Demotagoda for Rs. 3 million by a vehicle car sales businessman from Nugegoda.
The driver stated that the businessman had also handed over vehicle transfer papers during the transaction.
The Police conducted investigations and apprehended the businessman, who had revealed that he had mortgaged the vehicle due to his business suffering loss.
The arrested businessman will be produced before the court, while a special investigation has been launched to apprehend the suspect who had fled from Colpetty. (NewsWire)
