Two teenagers were reported dead after being hit by a train near the Wadurawa Railway Station early last morning (May 25).
The Veyangoda Police stated that the two boys who were on their way for a leisure trip had been walking on the railway tracks while being on their mobile phones at the time of the accident.
The victims have been identified as residents of Waduruwa, aged 18 and 19 years.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the two victims’ houses are located close to the Railway track and they had walked towards the Wadurawa Railway station along the railway tracks.
As the two youths were engaged in conversations on their mobile phones, they had been hit from behind by a train plying from Badulla to Colombo, Fort. (NewsWire)
