A Sri Lankan Police Constable who had attended a session of the International Police Association (IPA) Summit held in France has failed to return to Sri Lanka.
According to Daily News, the officer who is attached to the Western Province Police Traffic Division was scheduled to return in May.
An investigation into his failure to return after attending the Summit has found that the Police Constable had stayed back in France.
The Western Province Police Traffic Division issued a circular on Saturday (17) declaring the officer as an official deemed to have vacated his post.
This is the latest incident to be reported of a Police official failing to return after attending an overseas event.
Last week, it was reported that five Sri Lankan Police officers were reported to have failed to return home after attending a forum in the United Kingdom (UK).
The Police stated that five Police officers from a group of six had not returned to Sri Lanka and that a Police investigation has been launched into the missing Police Officers.
Several incidents of Sri Lankan athletes also failing to return after attending international events were reported last year. (NewsWire)
