Parliamentarian Chamal Rajapaksa was the only Rajapaksa who participated in the vote on the government’s Domestic Debt Optimization programme, according to a statement from the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
Reportedly former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Minister Namal Rajapaksa were absent during the vote.
Issuing a statement, Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera said that MP Chamal Rajapaksa participated in the voting with regard to the Resolution for the implementation of the Domestic Debt Optimization to restore the sovereign debt sustainability which was passed by a majority in Parliament recently (01).
She further confirmed that the reports published by the media about MP Chamal Rajapaksa not being present in the chamber at the time of the vote on the resolution are completely inaccurate.
Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera also revealed that MP Chamal Rajapaksa voted in favour of the said resolution. (NewsWire)
