A 62-year-old man was reported dead after being shot dead at his residence in the Koggalla area in Ambalantota early this morning (July 19).
According to the Police, the victim was shot dead by a group of three unidentified men who had illegally entered his residence.
Investigations reveal, that among the three suspects, one had peeped in through the window of one bedroom to find the whereabouts of the victim’s son.
However, the suspect had been spotted by the victim’s granddaughter who was studying inside the room at the time.
Upon hearing her scream, the victim is reported to have ventured outside to inspect during which time one of the other two suspects standing outside had shot him.
