Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder and B-Love Kandy Captain, Wanindu Hasaranga, has taken a bold stance, urging for better pitch conditions in Colombo for Lanka Premier League (LPL) matches.

Expressing his concerns over the slow pitches allocated for the initial Colombo games, Hasaranga highlighted the need for surfaces conducive to the dynamic nature of T20 cricket.

Kusal Mendis, the captain of Dambulla Aura also had previously raised concerns about the pitches provided for the first leg of matches in Colombo, underlining the importance of maintaining a fine balance between bat and ball.

Hasaranga appreciated the pitches offered in Kandy and stressed that such pitches are pivotal in ensuring an exciting and engaging cricketing experience for players and spectators alike.

In addition to advocating for pitch quality, Hasaranga also hailed the Lanka Premier League as a significant platform for young cricketers to gain international exposure.

He highlighted the tournament’s role in nurturing emerging talents by pitting them against seasoned players on a global stage. This exposure, according to Hasaranga, not only aids their individual development but also contributes to the growth of cricket in Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
