It is not possible to postpone the 2023 GCE Advanced Level examinations, Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha said in Parliament today.
Minister Premajayantha said that a postponement would result in affecting the GCE Ordinary Level examinations and the completion of the syllabus for the 2024 school year.
The Education Minister reiterated that the 2023 GCE Advanced Level examinations will be held from November to December as scheduled.
Minister Premajayantha made the remarks in response to requests by both government and opposition MPs, including Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Dullas Alahapperuma, Wimal Weerawansa and Sarath Weerasekara to postpone the Advanced Level examinations.
Requesting for the examinations to be postponed, the Parliamentarians pointed out it was unfair for students wishing to resit the exams as there was insufficient time to prepare for the exams. (NewsWire)
