Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa has raised concerns over the President’s delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, consisting of several Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarians.
Addressing the Parliament today, MP Sajith Premadasa questioned why several SLPP MPs who are not ministers or officials of the government had been included in the Sri Lankan delegation.
MP Premadasa pointed out that such a delegation has been allowed to travel at a time when the country is facing an economic crisis and the shortage of several essential goods.
“The party leaders were not informed of this delegation. SLPP MPs who were the cause for the country to go bankrupt are among the officials in the delegation. They are travelling using the people’s money and tax payments.” he revealed.
A heated exchange of words thereafter broke out between MP Premadasa and Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga. (NewsWire)
