Sri Lanka Men have lost out on the medal contention at the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Competition after being defeated by Afghanistan in the 3rd Quarter Final match played in Hangzhou, China.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first, after which Afghanistan posted a score of 116 runs all out in 18.3 overs.
Afghanistan’s Noor Ali Zadran put on a spectacular performance to score 51 runs in 52 balls, while Shahidullah contributed with 23 runs and skipper Mohammad Shahzad put on 20 runs.
Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara ripped through Afghanistan picking up 4 wickets, while Sahan Arachchige bagged 2 wickets, and Lahiru Samarakoon and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth picked 1 wicket each.
Chasing a target of 117 runs, Sri Lanka were all out for 108 runs in 19.1 overs, to be defeated by Afghanistan by 08 runs.
Sri Lanka skipper Sahan Arachchige contributed with 22 runs, followed by Lasith Croospulle with 16 runs, while Ashen Bandara and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth contributed with 13 runs each.
Afghanistan’s Gulbadin Naib and Qaid Ahmad ripped through Sri Lanka picking up 3 wickets each, while Sharaffudin Ashraf, Zahir Khan, and Karim Janat bagged 1 wicket each. (NewsWire)
