The strike launched by Railway Operators yesterday has been called off.
The strike action has been called off following a successful discussion with State Minister of Transport Lasantha Alagiyawanna today.
The Railway Underguard Union launched a strike action, by reporting sick to work, last evening over an incident of assault.
As a result, at least 20 trains, including office trains, were cancelled last evening causing delays in the train services.
Earlier today, the General Manager of Railways announced that the leave of Railway Assistant Guards has been cancelled with immediate effect.
The General Manager of Railways further warned that all Railway Assistant Guards scheduled for today must report to work before 12 noon.
However, following a successful discussion with the State Minister of Transport, the Railway Underguard Union has decided to call off its strike. (NewsWire)
