National Peoples Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath today filed a petition at the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka challenging the Anti-Terrorism Draft Bill.
In his petition, MP Herath has sought a ruling which deems that certain provisions of the Draft Bill, which are included in the Parliament’s agenda, violate the basic human rights under the constitution of Sri Lanka.
Pointing out that the Draft Bill was a violation of the Constitution, the petitioner further urged the court to order that it be passed by a 2/3rd majority in Parliament and a referendum. (NewsWire)
