In a devastating incident on Duplication Road in Colpetty, a passenger bus en route from Colombo to Matugama was struck by tragedy today when a massive tree toppled onto the vehicle, resulting in the loss of five lives.
The incident occurred on a seemingly routine journey when the towering tree unexpectedly crashed onto the bus, causing extensive damage and leading to a tragic loss of life. Duplication Road, a busy thoroughfare in Colpetty, was promptly closed temporarily as authorities rushed to the scene to manage the aftermath of the catastrophe.
The Deputy Director of the National Hospital reported that several other passengers who survived the incident are currently receiving medical treatment. The extent of their injuries remains to be determined as medical teams work tirelessly to provide them with the necessary care and support.
