Heavy showers of about 100 mm are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka, as per the weather forecast by the Department of Meteorology for the next 24 hours, effective from 12:00 noon today.
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has issued landslide warnings with yellow and amber alerts to 09 districts effective until 09.00 am on Saturday (Oct 07).
The landslide warnings have been issued to the Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Hambantota, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matara, and Ratnapura districts. (NewsWire)
