A 05-year-old child was reported dead in an accident in the 18km post area on the Kalpitiya- Palaviya Road in Norochcholai last night.
The Police said that the child had been travelling on a motorcycle with a man at the time of the accident.
Investigations have revealed that the motorcycle was travelling from Palaviya to Kalpitiya when it collided with a pickup truck.
The motorcyclist and child had been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital after which the child had succumbed to injuries.
The deceased has been identified as a 05-year-old resident of Pahalakudawa in Thalawila.
The Norochcholai Police has launched investigations into the accident. (NewsWire)
