The Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia has sought an investigation into the death of a Sri Lankan woman, following suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Media Spokesman Gamini Senarath Yapa revealed that the woman, identified as Sandamali, is reported to have died on July 18, 2023.
Gamini Senarath Yapa told the media today that, however, her death was reported to the Sri Lankan Mission in Saudi on October 15, nearly 87 days after the incident.
Stating that this was a problematic situation, he said that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia has made a special inquiry from the Saudi Foreign Ministry in this regard.
He further said that a request has also been made for an investigation into the death, as concerns have been raised about the delay in reporting the death to the Sri Lankan Mission. (NewsWire)
