A Gazette notification has been issued announcing the removal of two Sri Lankans from the country’s terror watch list.
Niklapillai Antony Emil Lakshmi Kanthan alias ‘Ramesh’ and Murugesu Sri Shanmugaraja, were blacklisted in February 2014, with the Interpol having issued a Red Notice against Ramesh in 2010.
They were blacklisted under the regulations of the United Nations’ list of designated persons for aiding and abetting terror activities.
Ramesh and Murugesu have been removed from the blacklist via a Gazette issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) dated October 23, 2023. (NewsWire)
