Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe has issued a clarification to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on recent media reports of a letter by the ICC to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) alleging political interference.
In his letter to the ICC, Sports Minister Ranasinghe pointed out that allegations of political interference by him to the SLC were factually incorrect.
He further accused SLC officials of having taken extreme measures to prevent future legal and administrative actions against them for their financial misconduct, which has been published by the Government Audit Department.
The Sports Minister further said that the SLC officials were attempting to use the integrity and good name of the ICC to shield their wrongdoings.
Assuring that no political interference has been done to the SLC by him or the Government of Sri Lanka, the Sports Minister further refuted the allegations levelled by the SLC, claiming they are baseless
