The Court of Appeal today dismissed a writ petition filed challenging the Parliamentary seat of State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage.
The writ petition had been filed seeking an order declaring State Minister Diana Gamage was not qualified to be a Member of Parliament.
Taking up for hearing the petition today, the Court of Appeal dismissed it based on a majority decision of the three-judge bench.
The writ petition challenging State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage’s citizenship and right to hold a Parliamentary seat was filed by civil activist Oshala Herath.
The petition seeks a ruling that Diana Gamage was unqualified to serve as a Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament due to her British citizenship. (NewsWire)
