Israel- Palestine conflict : Nine latest updates

  1. Palestinian media say around 50 people were killed by an air strike in the central Gaza Strip.
  2. Israel hasn’t commented on the strike but says it targets Hamas infrastructure and minimises civilian deaths.
  3. On Wednesday night, Israel continued its operation at the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, which it says was being used as a Hamas base.
  4. No one was allowed to leave Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital as the Israeli raid on the Strip’s main medical complex continues for a second day.
  5. Hamas rejects Israeli claims of weapons being uncovered during Wednesday’s raid.
  6. Israel says its jets attacked the Gaza house of Ismail Haniyeh, widely considered as the overall Hamas leader. Haniyeh lives in Qatar – Israel says the house was being used as a Hamas meeting place.
  7. US President Joe Biden says it is “not realistic” to expect Israel to stop the Gaza war, and has reiterated claims of Hamas base at al-Shifa Hospital but offers no proof.
  8. More than 11,300 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 7, but that figure has not been updated in days due to the collapse of the health system amid Israel’s attacks.
