Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of Sri Lanka after 01.00 p.m. today, the Department of Meteorology said.
Accordingly, fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Uva province.
Showers may occur in the coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces and in the Northern province during the morning too.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will sometimes occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Trincomalee via Kankasanthurai. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the Island.
Winds will be south-westerly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Hambantota and Pottuvil. Winds will be northerly to north-westerly in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
