The National Dengue Control Unit has identified 45 MOH Divisions across Sri Lanka as dengue high-risk areas, it was reported.
The high-risk areas include 10 zones in the Colombo District, eight from the Gampaha District, three each from the Kalutara and Kegalle Districts, 11 from the Kandy District, two each from the Matale and Galle Districts, one each from the Batticaloa and Kurunegala Districts, and four from the Puttalam District.
According to Dr. Nimalka Pannilahetti of the National Dengue Control Unit, the highest number of dengue cases have been reported from the Western Province, which is 34,645.
A total of 4,347 dengue cases were detected in November alone, with 15,464 cases being reported from the Colombo District, 14,596 from the Gampaha District, 4585 from the Kalutara District, 7,068 from the Kandy District, 3,371 from the Puttalam District, 3,065 from the Kegalle district, 2,933 from the Ratnapura district, and 2,797 from Kurunegala district.
