A 15-year-old schoolboy who had died after being struck by lightning is reported to have faced the tragic incident while waiting to attend tuition class last evening, investigations have revealed.
The victim, a resident of the Batagoda area in Anguruwathota, was pronounced dead after being admitted to the Galpatha Hospital.
Relatives of the boy told the media that the incident had taken place when the child was in the verandah of the house and his parents and grandmother had been inside.
It was reported that the child had been waiting outside until the rain ceased to attend tuition class when he was struck by lightning.
According to the relatives, the child had fallen near the front door and was found unconscious, right after which he was rushed to the hospital by his parents where he was pronounced dead.
The postmortem examination into the death is set to be conducted at the Horana Hospital. (NewsWire)
