Sri Lanka expects to receive approval for the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Extended Fund Facility (EFF) by December this year, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe announced today.
Addressing the media, Dr. Weerasinghe said Sri Lanka is making good progress concerning the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility programme.
Sri Lanka expects to also receive funds via the budget support programmes from international financial institutes, such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, following the completion of the first review by the IMF, he said.
The Central Bank Governor expressed confidence in getting the financial assurances from all official creditors Sri Lanka needs to complete the first review of the IMF, which is scheduled for December.
“We are moving in the right direction and we will see a positive outcome soon,” he added. (NewsWire)
