A decision has been taken to revise the charges imposed for the reconnection of disconnected electricity accounts, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera informed the Parliament.
Addressing the Parliament today, Minister Wijesekera said Rs. 3000 is charged from electricity consumers for reconnections at present.
“This amount is being charged even for those with a bill of Rs. 500 or Rs. 1000. Therefore, we have issued instructions to revise the charge,” he said.
Explaining further, Minister Wijesekera said it has been instructed to amend the charges to fit the electricity bill amount.
He added that therefore, it is expected that the charge might drop to between Rs. 1000-2000. (NewsWire)
