The showery weather condition experienced in Sri Lanka is expected to enhance over most parts of the island over the next few days starting from today (Nov 27), the Department of Meteorology said.
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Eastern, Northern and North-central provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in other provinces after 02.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Eastern, Uva, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will sometimes occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island, particularly during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be Northeast and the wind speed will be 30-40 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Kankasanthurai and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph in the other sea areas around the island.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam, Kankasanthurai and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara will be moderate and slight in the other sea areas around the island.
