Driving licences delayed due to printing issues will be issued within the next six months, the Department of Motor Traffic announced.
DMT Commissioner General Nishantha Anuruddha said a delay was caused in printing driving licences due to the unavailability of printers.
Announcing that three printers were received by the department on Monday, he said the printing of licences will recommence with nearly 900,000 driving licences to be printed.
“Even though the issues in importing licence cards, due to the inability to open the LCs (Letters of Credit) as a result of the economic crisis, were resolved, a key issue we faced was the shortage of printing machines,” he explained.
With the arrival of three more printing machines, the DMT Commissioner General said printing activities will recommence this week and they expect to complete printing the driving licences within 06 months. (NewsWire)
