Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today (Dec 07), the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and North-central provinces.
Several spells of showers can be expected in coastal areas of the Western province and the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
Misty conditions can be expected in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces in the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island, particularly during the evening or night.
Winds will be South-westerly to South-easterly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph in the sea areas around the island. Wind speed may increase up to 40 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambanthota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambanthota to Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
