Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has requested a delayed transmission of Parliament sittings, instead of a live feed.
Addressing an event in Hambantota on Sunday, MP Rajapaksa said he had requested the Speaker and Chief Government Whip to suspend live transmission and provide a broadcast with a delay of half an hour.
“Several Parliamentarians use their time to make mudslinging statements and talk about unimportant matters. They use their Parliament privileges to comment on the judiciary and judges. These actions cause the public to lose faith in the Parliament,” he said.
Pointing out that the Opposition Leader had mostly spoken about cricket during the time provided to him recently, MP Namal Rajapaksa questioned what progress the Parliament has made during the recent debates on the Budget 2024.
He said due to this reason, he had requested a delayed transmission of Parliament sittings, adding that Parliament sessions must be utilized to benefit the nation and the public. (NewsWire)
