A proposal to take up the motion on the Value-Added Tax (Amendment) Bill for debate in Parliament today has been passed with a vote in Parliament this morning.
Accordingly, 92 Members of Parliament had voted in favour of the proposal, while 41 members had voted against it, and one person had abstained from voting.
The Value-Added Tax (Amendment) Bill will be taken up for debate this evening, following the debate on the Budget 2024.
Parliament sittings were adjourned on Sunday, due to a lack of quorum during the debate on the Value-Added Tax (Amendment) Bill.
At the time, Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga announced that the Bill would be taken up for debate on Monday (Dec 11) and the government would get it passed. (NewsWire)
