Two suspects who had fraudulently collected money from the public by showing pictures of a young child and her medical report have been arrested in Nuwara Eliya.
The suspects were arrested following a complaint filed at the Dambana Police by the child’s father.
Based on the complaint, the suspects are accused of having illegally obtained the pictures and medical report of the child.
Investigations found that they had used their mobile numbers as the contact information for the monetary donations.
The suspects, two men, were arrested near the Nuwara Eliya bus stand yesterday. They are aged 25 and 34 years and are residents of Midhigama and Ahangama.
The Police had also found Rs. 10,900 in the possession of the suspects, which had been collected as donations. (NewsWire)
