Due to the wave-type atmospheric disturbance, the showery weather condition is expected to temporarily enhance over most places of Sri Lanka in the next few days starting today (Dec 14). Showers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and the Mullaitivu, Matale Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts. Several spells of showers will occur in the Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Anuradhapura districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m. Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern, Uva, Western, Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces in the morning.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa and Pottuvil. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island, particularly during the evening or night. Winds will be North-easterly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40-50 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.
