Solutions must be found for the high government taxes and electricity and water tariffs implemented in the country, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Leader MP Mahinda Rajapaksa said today (Dec 15).
Addressing the SLPP’s National Convention in Colombo, the former President said that if measures are not taken to address this Sri Lanka will face an even severe crisis in the future.
MP Rajapaksa further said that the SLPP must work to create a path for the country to move forward and not allow the nation to face another crisis.
The former President pointed out that some politicians were trying to achieve their political objectives by defrauding the youth of the nation.
“They have gotten caught in international pressure and are causing severe damage to their own country. This is why we say there is no decrease in the pressure put on Sri Lanka compared to then and now,” he said.
Commenting on the next elections, MP Mahinda Rajapaksa vowed that the SLPP will be the strongest party in the next election.
“Let’s build this nation together. We invite all who wish to join us to provide clean politics expected by the public,” he added, extending an open invitation. (NewsWire)
