The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for heavy rains in several provinces and districts of Sri Lanka, with red alerts being issued to 13 districts.
According to the department, the weather advisory is effective until 08.00 am on Saturday (Dec 16).
Due to the wave-type atmospheric disturbance, the showery weather condition is expected to enhance over the Eastern, Uva, and Southern provinces and in Ratnapura, Kalutara, Nuwara-Eliya, Matale and Polonnaruwa districts.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely in some places, the Met Department added. (NewsWire)
