The Department of Meteorology says rain is expected in several areas of Sri Lanka today.
Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces, while several spells of showers may occur in the Uva province and the Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Eastern provinces.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40-50 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai can be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
