The stock of 24 types of essential medicines worth over US$ 1 million donated by Bangladesh has been officially handed over to Sri Lanka on Thursday (Dec 21).
According to the Ministry of Health, the stock of medicines was officially handed over to Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana by the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka Tareq Md Ariful Islam.
The stock of essential medicines has been received following a request made by Sri Lanka and discussions held between the Health Ministries of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in this regard.
The Health Ministry said the donated stock of medicines is sufficient to cover Sri Lanka’s medicine needs for three months.
The ministry added that the medicine donation was coordinated by the State Pharmaceutical arm of Bangladesh, Essential Drugs Company Limited. (NewsWire)
