Two young men have been arrested following a raid conducted on an institution involved in the large-scale racket of providing forged documents, including forged visas and passports, in Pannala.
The Police said the raid had been conducted in the Elabadagama area in Pannala by the Police Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday (Dec 20) based on a tip-off.
The arrested suspects aged 22 and 23 years are residents of Pannala.
The Police said a house in the Elabadagama area had been raided after which investigations had found that the forged documents racket had been conducted for a long period of time.
Three laptops, eight printers, two mobile phones, two pen drives, two cheque machines, one UPS, 24 passports, and several official documents and seals were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
The suspects have been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations. (NewsWire)
