Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) management to take action against any employee who disrupts services.
Taking to ‘X’, Minister Wiejsekera said instructions have been given to suspend and take appropriate disciplinary action against any employee that disrupts the services or acts in violation of the guidelines issued by the CEB management.
He further said that the proposed reforms of the CEB will be presented to the Parliament with amendments for approval.
The minister added that the CEB will also submit the electricity tariff reduction proposal to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) next week.
Minister Kanchana Wiejsekera’s directives come after the CEB United Trade Union Alliance warned that it would launch a two-day strike from today against the restructuring and privatization of the CEB.
Anticipating the strike action, the CEB management cancelled the leave of all CEB employees until further notice.
Announcing the decision, a circular was issued by the Acting General Manager of the CEB yesterday, with employees being allowed to obtain leave only with the permission of their higher officers. (NewsWire)
