The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) says it has not received any proposal for the reduction in electricity tariffs, shooting down previous claims of the State Minister of Power and Energy Indika Anuruddha Herath in this regard.
State Minister Herath told the media recently, that a proposal for the reduction of electricity tariffs has been handed over to the PUCSL by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
He further said that following approval by the PUCSL, there was a possibility of reducing electricity charges before February 2024.
However, the PUCSL has refuted the claims of the State Minister of Power and Energy concerning a request to reduce electricity tariffs.
Issuing a statement, the PUCSL’s Corporate Communications Director, Jayanath Herath said the institution has not received any such proposal from the CEB.
He further assured that such a request had not been made from the CEB even as of yesterday, January 08, 2024. (NewsWire)
