Rainy conditions are expected to enhance in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Central, and Southern provinces of Sri Lanka today and tomorrow, according to the Department of Meteorology.
The department said that cloudy skies can be expected in most parts of the island during this period.
Accordingly, showers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Central and Southern provinces and the Polonnaruwa district. Several spells of showers will occur in the Anuradhapura district. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 1.00 p.m.
Showers are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning too. Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern and Uva Provinces and the Hambantota district.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Galle via Trincomalee, Pottuvil and Hambantota. Heavy showers can be expected at some places in sea areas extending from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota. Showers or thundershowers can occur in the other sea areas around the island during the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly or easterly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar and from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota.
