The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to remove illegal settlements and buildings within the Colombo city limits.
Addressing the media on Thursday (Jan 18), Colombo’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni said all owners of illegal settlements and buildings have been officially informed in this regard.
He further said that measures are being taken to relocate the affected people to newly constructed housing schemes provided by the Urban Development Authority (UDA).
“They will be relocated to the Kirula Abeyarama housing Complex in Thimbirigasyaya, the Gunananda Housing Complex, the Colombo 13 Housing Complex, and Housing Complexes in Maligawatte, Kotahena, and Jumma Majid Road,” he said. (NewsWire)
