The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka today concluded deliberating the petition filed by Ministers Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara against the Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s (SJB) decision on their party membership.
After concluding the deliberation of the petition, the Supreme Court ruling was deferred.
In August last year, Ministers Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition seeking a verdict annulling the decision made by the SJB to cancel their party membership.
The two Ministers filed the FR petition against the SJB’s decision to suspend their party membership and unseat them from the Parliament.
In July last year, the SJB’s Working Committee decided to expel the two ministers from the party after the duo joined President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government. (NewsWire)
